The Taylor Family Foundation

2010 marks a special year for The Taylor Family Foundation - our "Double Anniversary" - 20 years as a Foundation and 10 years of our camp programs at TTFF's Camp Arroyo. Approaching our third decade, TTFF has helped more than 40,000 children and 70,000 parents by providing respite and unique camp opportunities! With the community's help, we'll offer eleven full weeks of camp during the summer, as well as 7 weekend retreats all at no charge to the campers or their families.

For 20 years, we've been serving children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses and developmental disabilities such as brain tumors, autism, heart disease, diabetes, pediatric cancers, skin disease, asthma, diabetes and pediatric HIV/AIDS. TTFF provides fully-staffed facilities, specialized food services and programmatic support to each camp group, allowing their young participants a comprehensive, safe and effectual camp experience. Campers are offered distinctive opportunities to gain independence, build self-confidence, and become more optimistic about their life-circumstances. Introduced to new levels of social interaction, acceptance, and encouragement, these children are afforded a solid and reliable foundation as they face the challenges inevitable in their everyday lives.

The summer and weekend programs provide more than 2,700 children per year the chance to look beyond their illnesses, primarily by giving them the opportunity to attend camp, an experience most often denied them due to the physical restrictions of their conditions and/or the financial limitations of their burdened families. So often overlooked, these children are now able to grow from social interaction, the exploration of capabilities, the self-confidence of newfound knowledge, the confidence and exhilaration of conquering new challenges, and the discovery that anything is possible.

The culmination of this anniversary season will be our 20th Anniversary Day in the Park fundraiser, which will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Camp Arroyo. Proceeds from our Day in the Park auction fundraiser, give a free "once-in-a-lifetime" camp experience to more than 2,700 campers each year.

TTFF's wish is for kids that attend Camp Arroyo to check their worries at the door, make new friends and feel included in every activity. When they leave, our dream is that they take with them joy, love, hope, memories and friendship!
